If we are to believe the powers that be, illegal drugs are bad for you.
On this score I agree with the statement. However, our Constitution does not allow the Congress or any other federal agency such as DEA, FBI, or OSHA, to make laws!
States that have voted for medical use of marijuana have been shot down by the US Supreme Court. And of course, none of the judges quoted Constitutional issues, they said "California could not exempt itself from federal law".
Read the Constitution. I have it on this site for ease of access. There is NOTHING there to allow the federal government to place such STUPID restrictions on us as individuals.
Ask yourself this question. Why did it take a Constitutional amendment to stop LEGAL alcohol sales in the US, and yet another amendment to restore legal use of alcohol.
I don't mind drug testing as a condition of employment, although I know for a fact it doesn't work, but I can't see any free society ever delegating to ANY government to include the United States of America, the write to tell us what we can or can not consume.
It's Just Wrong!!! As such, every law that the federal government makes on this and every discussion the courts hand down on this are illegitimate.
I know politicians everywhere, the Democrats in particular, want to keep drugs tax free and I do thank them in their efforts to accommodate us on the tax part of this issue.
If all drug laws were gone tomorrow, would I then try pot? No, I think is smells way too much to get close to it!
We are throwing good people in prisons all over the country for putting drugs into their own body! Then we look at other countries and speak of how in-human they are! You know they are laughing at us big time. Hell, I am laughing right now too.
I was in the Air Force, I saw allot of people get thrown out of the Air Force for a single pee test coming up positive. Then years later the Air Force learned that some products sold at health food stores will cause a false positive urinalyses. But did the Air Force even suggest they maybe they prosecuted (yes, even now they still prosecute with the pee test being the ONLY evidence against you) too many innocent people? Not for a minute, they retroactively made those health food products illegal as well. Uncle Sam is not about ready to admit that they wrongfully prosecuted people for years! They are just not up to the task!
This country has enough to worry about with all of the legitimate (constitutional) business it has. Let's not focus our efforts on destroying ourselves!
