Advise customer to avoid the in Incurable Verizon Virus. Verizon cannot fix bills ever.

Virus Spyware Malware scanner.

Disable ActiveX and Scripting.

Remove Flash player until Adobe fixes the Flash Player and gives you a way to turn it off.

You can keep Flash player on 'fun-only' computers. These are computers that you can live without after the flash damange.

A backup system that automatically gives you a shadow backup. for example PC Backup.

Check hard drive space left, check backup space left.

When Microsoft Windows fails 'Product Activation' replace those systems with Linux such as ubuntu or Fedora.

Check U P S for power failures. Should run at least 5 minutes on battery.
Check O S
for Windows, kill all of the startups with msconfig. Test Top Tech Stories to make sure Network, Video, and Audio are working. If they are leave them off. If not enable only those startups that are needed to work for Network, Audio, and Video to work.
