Dear Visitors to San Antonio, Texas.
On behalf of the decent people of San Antonio, I would like to apologize for stealing your money for our Spurs arena. It's wrong, I know! And it's going to cost you big time!
You are not supposed to know you are paying this tax. But when the saddles and Spurs committee lied about the tax rate you would be paying, and pitched the fact that only visitors would have to pay, the new Spurs tax was approved.
In conversation with the saddles and spurs committee they said the Spurs tax on hotels would be less than one percent! Lie Number one. They said the Spurs tax on rental cars would be less than one percent! (In fact, they actually tried to say there would be no new taxes at all. In my conversation with the "Saddles and Spurs Committee", they wouldn't admit to any tax increases until I cornered them on the subject. But even then, they lied again about the actual tax rates. Actually the tax will be the highest in Texas! Both around 17 percent! That's right folks, you will be paying 17 percent for our Spurs!
You are not supposed to know that you are paying the tax. I voted against it, but the Saddles and Spurs committee had a lot of liars working to spread the word about the really low tax that would be charge for the Spurs.
